<p>An organised kitchen starts with clever storage. Smart storage is not about squeezing more in. It is about creating a kitchen that supports the way you cook, live and move. From deep drawers and hidden <a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/kitchen-appliances-northampton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">appliances</a> to full height larders and clever use of awkward corners &#8211; these ideas help you get more from every inch of your room.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img fetchpriority="high" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/1909-Curve-Set-2-03021-1-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005331" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/1909-Curve-Set-2-03021-1-980x735.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/1909-Curve-Set-2-03021-1-480x360.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<p>At Parker Kitchens we build everything to suit your space, so you enjoy maximum capacity without compromising on the look you love. We plan storage first and then <a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/kitchen-design-northampton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">design</a>, make and <a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/kitchen-fitters-northampton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">fit </a>cabinetry around your life. Everything is made to measure in our Towcester workshop so that you can enjoy a beautifully organised, and unmistakably stylish kitchen.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="our-favourite-smart-kitchen-storage-ideas">Our favourite smart kitchen storage ideas:</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="deep-pan-drawers"><strong>Deep pan drawers</strong></h3>

<p>Banks of deep, full extension drawers are far more practical than a standard cupboard with a shelf, offering better access, clearer visibility and easier day-to-day use. Our extra wide options give you even more space and help streamline everyday cooking.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="640" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/deep-pan-drawers-1024x640.jpg" alt="deep pan drawers" class="wp-image-1005315" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/deep-pan-drawers-1024x640.jpg 1024w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/deep-pan-drawers-980x613.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/deep-pan-drawers-480x300.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="appliance-garages-and-breakfast-cupboards">Appliance garages and breakfast cupboards</h3>

<p>Appliance garages and breakfast cupboards provide a dedicated spot for everyday gadgets such as toasters, coffee makers and blenders, keeping them neatly tucked away behind closed doors. They create a tidy, clutter free hub for breakfast or quick food prep, allowing the rest of your <a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/kitchen-worktops-northampton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">kitchen worktops</a> to stay streamlined when the appliances are not in use.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="674" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/larder-cupboard-1024x674.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005316" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/larder-cupboard-980x645.jpeg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/larder-cupboard-480x316.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="designer-larders-that-look-as-good-open-as-closed"><strong>Designer larders that look as good open as closed</strong></h3>

<p>Turn your larder into a feature, not just a cupboard. Add integrated lighting so you can see everything at a glance, with door racks for bottles and condiments and plug sockets inside for small appliances. Everything has its place, and it all looks beautifully organised when you open the doors. Close them again and you are left with a clean, elegant run of cabinetry that keeps the hard work hidden.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="699" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/walk-in-larder-1024x699.jpeg" alt="walk in larder" class="wp-image-1005317" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/walk-in-larder-980x669.jpeg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/walk-in-larder-480x328.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="corners-that-finally-make-sense"><strong>Corners that finally make sense</strong></h3>

<p>Corner cupboards do not have to be dark and difficult to use. LeMans swing out trays or other engineered corner pull outs bring the contents right out in front of you in one smooth movement. Pans, mixing bowls and small appliances glide into view instead of being stacked at the back where you can&#8217;t reach them. You gain usable storage without the frustration of rummaging.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-1 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex">
<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="799" height="599" data-id="1005342" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/698438e14ae6b909cbc01950_MV-Kuechen-Detmold-5D4-2430.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005342" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/698438e14ae6b909cbc01950_MV-Kuechen-Detmold-5D4-2430.jpg 799w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/698438e14ae6b909cbc01950_MV-Kuechen-Detmold-5D4-2430-480x360.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 799px, 100vw" /></figure>
</figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="integrated-recycling-and-waste"><strong>Integrated recycling and waste</strong></h3>

<p>Built in bins are one of those details you quickly wonder how you lived without. Pull out, soft close bin systems can be sized to suit your cabinet width and your household, with separate compartments for general waste, food and recycling. Everything is contained behind a door, keeping odours under control and making it easy for everyone.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-full"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="980" height="654" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-from-clipboard-3.png" alt="integrated waste bins" class="wp-image-1005319" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-from-clipboard-3.png 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-from-clipboard-3-480x320.png 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) 980px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="under-sink-drawers-that-work-around-the-pipes"><strong>Under‑sink drawers that work around the pipes</strong></h3>

<p>The cupboard under the sink is usually a tangle of bottles and cloths. With drawer kits that work neatly around the pipework, you can turn that dead space into organised storage for cleaning products, sponges and dishwasher tablets. The drawer glides out so you can see everything at a glance, instead of kneeling down to reach into the back of a dark cupboard.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/66d82ea8f649a4a2fd38a2ed_Portero_ThreeBasket_Anth_Propped2_1200px-1024x768.jpg" alt="under kitchen storage" class="wp-image-1005344" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/66d82ea8f649a4a2fd38a2ed_Portero_ThreeBasket_Anth_Propped2_1200px-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/66d82ea8f649a4a2fd38a2ed_Portero_ThreeBasket_Anth_Propped2_1200px-980x735.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/66d82ea8f649a4a2fd38a2ed_Portero_ThreeBasket_Anth_Propped2_1200px-480x360.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="use-all-the-height"><strong>Use all the height</strong></h3>

<p>We can take your cabinetry up to the ceiling to give a tailored, high end look that unlocks valuable extra storage. Everyday pieces can stay at eye level, while seasonal items and little used gadgets live higher up. Where full height units feel out of reach, pull down mechanisms inside wall units bring shelves gently towards you, so everything is accessible without a step stool cluttering the room.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/1909-3-Panel-1-1024x683.jpg" alt="tall cabinets with fridge" class="wp-image-1005320" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/1909-3-Panel-1-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/1909-3-Panel-1-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="shelving-and-glass-that-earn-their-place"><strong>Shelving and glass that earn their place</strong></h3>

<p>Open shelves and glazed cabinets keep a kitchen feeling light while still adding storage. Use them for the pieces you love and reach for often, such as favourite mugs, glassware or cookbooks. Discreet lighting inside glazed units adds a soft glow in the evening. Choose clear glass to show everything off, or reeded and ribbed glass if you prefer to soften the view and hide visual clutter while still keeping things airy.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/glass-reed-cabinet-door-1024x683.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005321" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/glass-reed-cabinet-door-980x654.jpeg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/glass-reed-cabinet-door-480x320.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="save-space-with-a-boiling-water-tap"><strong>Save space with a boiling water tap</strong></h3>

<p>A boiling water tap such as a Quooker can free up valuable worktop space by replacing the traditional kettle altogether. &nbsp;You&#8217;ll have instant 100°C boiling water, hot and even filtered or sparkling water are available straight from the tap, so you gain speed and convenience as well as a clearer surface. It&#8217;s a small change that can make your kitchen feel more streamlined, especially on compact worktops where every centimetre counts.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="576" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/quooker-boiling-water-tap-1024x576.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005322" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/quooker-boiling-water-tap-980x551.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/quooker-boiling-water-tap-480x270.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="drinks-storage-that-work-with-your-layout"><strong>Drinks storage that work with your layout</strong></h3>

<p>A well planned wine rack or drinks cabinet can be both practical and a stylish design detail. Slim vertical racks make clever use of narrow gaps, while horizontal cubbies can be built into an island, dresser or end panel for easy access. If you prefer to keep bottles out of view, integrated pull out wine stores or hidden compartments inside tall units offer tidy, temperature stable storage. Whether you keep a few favourites or a full collection, we can tailor the design to suit your space.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/drinks-cabinet-1024x683.jpeg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005323" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/drinks-cabinet-980x653.jpeg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/drinks-cabinet-480x320.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="wine-fridges-fitted-seamlessly"><strong>Wine fridges fitted seamlessly</strong></h3>

<p>A built in wine fridge gives you perfectly chilled bottles without taking up precious worktop space. They look especially smart set into an island or run of cabinets, creating a dedicated drinks zone with glasses stored nearby. Choose the width, capacity and number of temperature zones that suit your lifestyle, and we will integrate it so the appliance sits flush with the cabinetry. It is a simple addition that elevates both everyday living and relaxed hosting.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Caple-wine-chiller-1024x768.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1005324" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Caple-wine-chiller-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Caple-wine-chiller-980x735.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Caple-wine-chiller-480x360.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="how-we-make-it-effortless">How we make it effortless</h2>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="bespoke-cabinetry-properly-managed"><strong>Bespoke cabinetry, properly managed</strong></h3>

<p>We design, make and fit in‑house, with one project manager, one schedule and tidy working as standard. You get daily updates, site protection and a clear handover. Our cabinetry and construction carry a 6‑year workmanship warranty, with up to 25‑year guarantees on quartz worktops, 10‑year on granite, and lifetime guarantees on Blum runners and hinges. We are a KBSA approved member, and all gas work is by Gas Safe engineers and electrics by registered electricians.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="819" height="1024" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/image-from-clipboard-1-819x1024.jpeg" alt="cabinet smart storage" class="wp-image-1005325"/></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="more-storage-in-every-cabinet"><strong>More storage in every cabinet</strong></h3>

<p>Most kitchen retailers supply standard cabinetry and leave a 50 mm gap at the back for pipework, even when the pipework is not there. It is wasted space that you still pay for, so if that gap is not needed, we take it out.</p>

<p>Our cabinets are built to use the full depth of your room. That means 520 mm deep cabinets internally, giving you around 50 mm more usable space than typical standard units. Over a full run of cabinets, that adds up to a lot of extra storage in your new kitchen.</p>

<p>We also supply 500 mm deep drawers as standard, where 450 mm deep is common across the industry. Deeper drawers mean easier stacking, better visibility and fewer overfilled cupboards. So you get a kitchen that feels the same size on the outside, but works harder on the inside.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Larder-cupboard-smart-storage-1024x768.jpeg" alt="Larder cupboard smart storage" class="wp-image-1005326" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Larder-cupboard-smart-storage-980x735.jpeg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2026/03/Larder-cupboard-smart-storage-480x360.jpeg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<div style="height:10px" aria-hidden="true" class="wp-block-spacer"></div>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="we-can-fit-it-all"><strong>We can fit it all</strong></h3>

<p>From larders and deep drawer banks to LeMans corners, integrated bins, charging drawers and pocket‑door breakfast stations, our team plans the details, orders quality components and installs everything to a measured fit. You get a seamless, made‑to‑measure result without having to juggle trades.</p>

<h4 class="wp-block-heading">A quick guide to choosing your storage</h4>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Start with how you live.</strong> Think about what you cook and the items you reach for daily. Plan storage by task so everything lives where you use it.</li>

<li><strong>Prioritise visibility.</strong> Choose pull outs, drawers and internal lighting so you can see what you have at a glance and avoid overbuying.</li>

<li><strong>Design for easy access.</strong> Wide drawers, corner pull outs and pull down wall mechanisms reduce bending, stretching and rummaging.</li>

<li><strong>Think in zones.</strong> Group cooking, prep, baking, cleaning and breakfast items together so your kitchen flows naturally.</li>

<li><strong>Plan for waste and recycling early.</strong> Choose the right width cabinet for built in bins with compartments that suit your household.</li>

<li><strong>Use your full height.</strong> Taller cabinets or ceiling height units add valuable extra space for items you use less often.</li>

<li><strong>Maximise awkward areas.</strong> Corners, slim gaps and under sink sections can be transformed with engineered pull outs and clever inserts.</li>

<p>These kitchen design ideas for 2026 are all about creating a calmer, more liveable feel. Rather than choosing bold looks that date quickly, homeowners are leaning towards warmer colours, cleaner lines and practical upgrades that make the space easier to use day to day.</p>

<p>A good way to balance current trends with timeless design is to keep the ‘expensive bits’ (layout, cabinetry and worktops) classic, then introduce trend-led touches through easy-to-change details like paint, handles, lighting and accessories.</p>

<p>In 2026, it’s also about keeping worktops clear, building in <a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/ideas/smart-kitchen-storage-ideas/">clever storage</a> and smart appliances, and choosing finishes like washed oak, earthy tones and soft neutrals to add warmth without overwhelming the room.</p>

<p>Below are our top kitchen design ideas and trends for 2026 that we are installing in Northamptonshire and <a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/milton-keynes/kitchens/" data-type="link" data-id="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/milton-keynes/kitchens/">Milton Keynes kitchens</a>.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="512" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Kitchens-Banbury-Location-Page-Hero-Traditional-Curved-Shaker-1909-Kitchen-1024x512.jpg" alt="Kitchens Banbury Location Page Hero - Traditional Curved Shaker 1909 Kitchen" class="wp-image-4444" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Kitchens-Banbury-Location-Page-Hero-Traditional-Curved-Shaker-1909-Kitchen-1024x512.jpg 1024w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Kitchens-Banbury-Location-Page-Hero-Traditional-Curved-Shaker-1909-Kitchen-980x490.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2024/09/Kitchens-Banbury-Location-Page-Hero-Traditional-Curved-Shaker-1909-Kitchen-480x240.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="1-colours-are-getting-softer-and-warmer">1) Colours are getting softer and warmer</h2>

<p>The big move is away from cool greys and stark contrasts, and towards more natural shades.</p>

<p>These are the top <a href="https://www.housebeautiful.com/uk/decorate/kitchen/a69682856/kitchen-paint-colour-trends-2026/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">kitchen colour trends</a> for 2026:</p>

<p><strong>Washed oak and muted Scandinavian tones:</strong> Used as a warming layer in 2026 kitchens, bringing natural grain and softness without making the room feel heavy. Instead of committing to an all-oak scheme, homeowners are choosing oak as an accent on an island, a bank of tall units, open shelving, or a pantry zone, so the space feels calm, textured and modern rather than rustic.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="677" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Shaker-Meadowell-02-min-1024x677.jpg" alt="Kitchen design trends 2026 " class="wp-image-1004837" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Shaker-Meadowell-02-min-980x648.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Shaker-Meadowell-02-min-480x317.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: 1909 Kitchens</figcaption></figure>

<p><strong>Greens with depth:</strong> Greens with depth are still a standout, but the 2026 version is richer and more grown-up, with muted tones like Regiment Green, Forest Green and Reed Green. These deeper greens work best when they are balanced with taupe or warm off-whites, which softens the contrast and keeps the overall look liveable, especially in matte or soft-satin finishes paired with brass, gunmetal or antiqued bronze.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/1909-Ovolo-True-curve-0299-green-cab-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004833" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/1909-Ovolo-True-curve-0299-green-cab-min-980x654.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/1909-Ovolo-True-curve-0299-green-cab-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Dustier, paler blues: </strong>Dustier, paler blues are replacing deep navy as the go-to blue for kitchens, giving colour that feels relaxed instead of dramatic. Softer shades such as Cadet Blue or Ives Blue create an airy, easy-to-live-with feel, particularly when paired with porcelain tones and warmed up with touches of washed oak and softer metallic finishes.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/SHAKER_1909_Shot-4_0382-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004830" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/SHAKER_1909_Shot-4_0382-min-980x654.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/SHAKER_1909_Shot-4_0382-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Porcelain and soft off-whites: </strong>Becoming the default neutral for 2026 because they keep kitchens feeling bright and clean while still looking warm under both daylight and evening lighting. A big influence is <a href="https://www.pantone.com/uk/en/color-of-the-year/2026" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2026, Cloud Dancer,</a> a creamy off-white that works as a timeless base and makes it easy to bring in trend accents through an island, a pantry feature, or textured details, without having to rethink the whole kitchen in a few years.</p>

<p>A simple way to use these trends without repainting in five years is to keep cabinetry in a timeless base colour, then bring washed oak, green, or pale blue in via feature units, open shelving back panels, or a pantry zone.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="2-door-styles-slimmer-with-more-texture">2) Door styles: slimmer with more texture</h2>

<p>Shaker is not going anywhere, but it is evolving. The “super skinny shaker” look, especially in-frame with a 25 mm frame, gives definition without feeling heavy.</p>

<p>At the same time, many homeowners are moving away from visible handles:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Handleless runs</strong> for a cleaner line across the room</li>

<li><strong>Tip-on push-to-open</strong> on doors, especially where you want a flush finish</li>
</ul>

<p>Finishes are warming up too, with gunmetal, black and brass all strong in 2026. Brass works particularly well with warmer undertones, wood accents, and green cabinetry.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/In-Frame-Slab-1-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004834" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/In-Frame-Slab-1-min-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/In-Frame-Slab-1-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="3-worktops-and-splashbacks-quartz-and-full-height-is-in">3) Worktops and splashbacks: quartz and full-height is in</h2>

<p>Homeowners are prioritising <a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/kitchen-worktops-northampton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">worktops</a> and surfaces that look great but are easy to live with.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="worktops"><strong>Worktops</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Quartz is still the main choice</strong>, with light backgrounds and subtle veining. Hints of gold and occasional blue tones are popular.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Lifestyle-Detail_Lifestyle-Details_0055-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004835" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Lifestyle-Detail_Lifestyle-Details_0055-min-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Lifestyle-Detail_Lifestyle-Details_0055-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Granite is less in favour</strong> for people who want lower maintenance.</p>

<p><strong>Wood worktops</strong> tend to be used as a feature section, like a butcher’s block, rather than wall-to-wall.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Ovolo-Detail_0004-1-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="wooden butchers block worktop in kitchen" class="wp-image-1004867" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Ovolo-Detail_0004-1-min-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Ovolo-Detail_0004-1-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="splashbacks"><strong>Splashbacks</strong></h3>

<p>Tiles are slipping down the trend list. Instead, we are seeing:</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li><strong>Full-height splashbacks</strong> in quartz for a seamless, wipeable finish</li>

<li><strong>Antique mirrored splashbacks</strong>, in bronze, silver, grey, or bespoke-tinted glass, to bounce light around and add depth</li>
</ul>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="4-from-chaos-to-calm-storage-by-zone">4) From chaos to calm: storage by zone</h2>

<p>Storage trends in 2026 are all about removing clutter from view and making the kitchen feel more organised with smart storage ideas.</p>

<p><strong>Key storage ideas</strong></p>

<p><strong>A</strong> <strong>larder cupboard: </strong>A good larder is not just shelves. It includes internal drawers for packets, pull-out trays for tins, door racks for spices and oils, and even integrated power so you can run a mixer or coffee machine inside the cupboard. It’s storage that actively <a href="https://www.idealhome.co.uk/all-rooms/kitchen/designer-larder-trend" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">keeps everything organised</a>, so you spend less time rummaging and more time actually using the kitchen.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PRONOUNCED_BEAD_Shot-23_0025-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004848" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PRONOUNCED_BEAD_Shot-23_0025-min-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PRONOUNCED_BEAD_Shot-23_0025-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Walk-in pantries</strong>: Turns an awkward corner into a high-capacity zone. These pantries often include a traditional cold shelf, along with adjustable shelving and dedicated space for small appliances, so the toaster, air fryer and coffee kit can live out of sight but still be easy to grab. The result is a kitchen that looks tidier because the “busy bits” have a home behind a door.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="699" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PRONOUNCED_BEAD_Shot-3_0043-min-1-1024x699.jpg" alt="walk in larder in kitchen" class="wp-image-1004868" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PRONOUNCED_BEAD_Shot-3_0043-min-1-980x669.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/PRONOUNCED_BEAD_Shot-3_0043-min-1-480x328.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Integrated bins</strong>: Waste is also getting smarter and more discreet with integrated bins that have separate sections for recycling and general waste and, increasingly, sealed options that help contain smells. Done well, they sit close to the prep area for convenience, but disappear completely behind cabinetry so they do not interrupt the look of the room.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/SLAB_SHOT-17_0032-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="integrated kitchen cabinet bin" class="wp-image-1004858" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/SLAB_SHOT-17_0032-min-980x654.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/SLAB_SHOT-17_0032-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Bench seating with storage </strong>is growing in popularity because it&#8217;s practical and makes the room feel more cosy. It is perfect for keeping bulky or awkward items out of the way, like table linens, serving platters, board games, pet bowls, or even school bags, while creating a place to sit that helps open-plan rooms feel more zoned.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Shot-10-b_0015-min-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004852" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Shot-10-b_0015-min-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Shot-10-b_0015-min-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Entertaining zones are evolving</strong></p>

<p>Wine racks are fading out, <strong>wine chillers are in. </strong>Traditional wine racks can look busy, collect dust, and do not always store bottles in ideal conditions. Wine chillers are becoming the preferred choice, offering a cleaner look and more consistent temperature control, especially in homes that regularly host.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="1024" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Caple-wine-cooler-1024x1024.jpg" alt="Caple wine cooler" class="wp-image-1004863" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Caple-wine-cooler-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Caple-wine-cooler-980x980.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Caple-wine-cooler-480x480.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Gin cabinets and mini bars</strong> are growing in popularity as a defined feature area, often with a small prep surface, glass storage, and mood lighting. This is where you might also see reeded glass doors or antique mirror finishes used to make the zone feel like a designed “moment” rather than a standard cupboard run.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Gin-Cabinet-New-Year-4-min-1-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004829" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Gin-Cabinet-New-Year-4-min-1-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Gin-Cabinet-New-Year-4-min-1-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Ice drawers</strong> are a talking point, but an American-style fridge freezer works better for most.</p>

<blockquote class="wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow">
<p><strong>“Ice drawers look impressive on paper, but they can be slow when you’re actually hosting. If you use ice a lot, an American-style fridge freezer is often the more practical choice.” </strong>&#8211; Darren, Parker Kitchens Founder</p>
</blockquote>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="5-appliances-smarter-tidier-and-more-multi-functional">5) Appliances: smarter, tidier, and more multi-functional</h2>

<p><a href="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/kitchen-appliances-northampton/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Kitchen appliances</a> in 2026 are expected do more, take up less space, and keep counters clear.</p>

<h3 class="wp-block-heading" id="whats-trending"><strong>What’s trending</strong></h3>

<p><strong>Induction hobs</strong> are continuing to replace gas in 2026 kitchens because they make everyday cooking quicker, cleaner, and more controlled. They heat fast, respond instantly when you change the temperature, and the flat surface is far easier to wipe down.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="683" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/person-mixing-sauce-pan-stove-1024x683.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004825" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/person-mixing-sauce-pan-stove-980x653.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/person-mixing-sauce-pan-stove-480x320.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Built-in ovens with dedicated air-fry modes</strong> are becoming more popular because they deliver the crisp finish people like, without sacrificing worktop space to a separate appliance. Combination microwaves are also evolving in the same direction too, with more models offering grill and air fryer-style features, which is ideal in smaller kitchens where one appliance needs to cover several jobs.</p>

<p><strong>Wi-Fi connected appliances</strong> such as fridges and ovens are trending because they reduce little bits of friction in day-to-day routines: you can preheat the oven on the way home, get a notification when a programme is finished, or check settings without having to hover in the kitchen.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="768" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Bespoke-AI-Refrigerator-with-9-inch-AI-Home-min-1024x768.jpg" alt="Samsung-Bespoke-AI-Refrigerator-with-9-inch-AI-Home" class="wp-image-1004960" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Bespoke-AI-Refrigerator-with-9-inch-AI-Home-min-980x735.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/Samsung-Bespoke-AI-Refrigerator-with-9-inch-AI-Home-min-480x360.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /><figcaption class="wp-element-caption">Photo Credit: Samsung</figcaption></figure>

<p><strong>Smart fridges</strong> are becoming more useful and more common, particularly models that take internal photos when the door shuts. It’s a simple idea, but it solves a real problem: you can check what you’ve already got in stock whilst you’re out shopping.</p>

<p><strong>“Clear the worktop” upgrades </strong>are another defining appliance direction for 2026. <strong>Boiling water taps </strong>are the standout example, replacing kettles and reducing the need for extra countertop kit, while also speeding up cooking jobs like making hot drinks, and filling pans quickly.</p>

<p><strong>Other trending kitchen features for 2026:</strong></p>

<p><strong><strong>Acoustic panelling</strong> </strong>to soften sound in big open-plan spaces</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="7-flooring-tiles-are-out-lvt-is-in">7) Flooring: tiles are out, LVT is in</h2>

<p>Hardworking, easy-clean floors are winning. We are seeing:</p>

<p><strong>Luxury vinyl flooring (or LVT)</strong> is becoming the go-to choice for 2026 kitchens because it fits the way most people actually live. It gives you the look of timber planks or stone tiles, but with a surface that is tougher under everyday wear, easier to clean, and more forgiving if you are dealing with spills, pets, or high-traffic family life. It is also a practical option in open-plan spaces because it can run continuously from the kitchen into dining and living areas, creating a more seamless, finished look.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="679" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Shot-2-Life_0032-min-1024x679.jpg" alt="" class="wp-image-1004836" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Shot-2-Life_0032-min-980x650.jpg 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/OVOLO_1909_SSD__Shot-2-Life_0032-min-480x318.jpg 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Herringbone patterns</strong> are staying popular because they add instant design value, especially in kitchens that are otherwise quite pared back. It is a good way to bring texture and interest into a neutral scheme, and it works particularly well with the softer colours and cleaner cabinetry styles that are trending for 2026.</p>

<figure class="wp-block-image size-large"><img loading="lazy" decoding="async" width="1024" height="569" src="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/What-is-Parquetry-in-Flooring.jpeg-1-1024x569.webp" alt="Herringbone wooden flooring" class="wp-image-1004872" srcset="https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/What-is-Parquetry-in-Flooring.jpeg-1-1024x569.webp 1024w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/What-is-Parquetry-in-Flooring.jpeg-1-980x544.webp 980w, https://parkerkitchens.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/What-is-Parquetry-in-Flooring.jpeg-1-480x267.webp 480w" sizes="(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw" /></figure>

<p><strong>Wide planks and softer, natural wood tones </strong>are also on the rise because they support the shift towards warmer, calmer interiors. Wider boards make the space feel more open and modern, and the gentler, less orange wood shades sit beautifully alongside porcelain cabinets, washed oak accents, and earthy paint colours. The overall effect is what many people are aiming for now: “warm minimalism”, where the room feels simple and uncluttered, but still has enough natural tone and texture to feel inviting.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading" id="kitchen-design-ideas-how-to-use-these-2026-trends">Kitchen design ideas: How to use these 2026 trends </h2>

<p>A good rule is: keep the “expensive bits” timeless, and let trends live in the parts you can change easily.</p>

<ul class="wp-block-list">
<li>Choose a layout and cabinetry style that will still work in ten years</li>

<li>Bring trend colours in via painted walls, shelving accents, or a pantry feature</li>

<li>Spend on storage and lighting</li>
</ul>
